When James and Joanna King bought Unang in 2001, there were twenty hectares of vines in various parcels up and down the hillside, and in varying degrees of health. Six hectares of poorly sited and/or diseased vines were torn out, and a new cellar was put in. The wine is a Rhone blend of Grenache and Syrah grown organically.
Packed with violets, cherries and white tobacco on the nose. On the palate it is filled with smoke, black fruit and leather. This is perfectly accompanied by smooth tannins which add a lovely mouthfeel to this exceptional wine.
Chateau Unang Rouge is an organic wine.
