Gigondas is an appellation that neighbours Chateauneuf de Pape. The wines are made in the same style with the same GMS (Grenache, Syrah and Mouvedre) grapes but can often be found at a lot better value. Grapes are taken from two steep plots on limestone, granite and schist soils. Half of the wine is aged for 14 months in French oak barrels to add another layer of flavour.
Rich and intense flavours of black cherries with an underlying smokiness. It's full bodied and packed with flavour. Cherries, spice and chocolate on the palate with a long finish.
