Vinification
A pure expression of Jura Pinot Noir planted on a mix of schist and marl. The wine showcases the lighter, fresher side of Pinot Noir, with the naturally distinctive character of Domaine Ganevat's approach allowing the fruit and terroir to take centre stage.
Tasting note and best served with:
Fresh, elegant and finely textured, with plenty of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry and redcurrant, backed by subtle spice, earth and a mineral edge from the schist and marl soils.
Producer and terroir information:
Domaine Ganevat is one of the Jura's most revered natural wine producers, based in Rotalier in the southern Jura. Jean-François Ganevat is known for producing highly expressive wines that put the region's unique soils and old vines front and centre, with a low-intervention approach in the cellar.
En Billat comes from a single parcel of Pinot Noir planted on schist and marl, two of the characteristic geological elements found throughout the Jura. The combination gives the wine both freshness and mineral structure, while allowing the delicate red-fruit character of Pinot Noir to shine.
A beautifully pure and energetic Jura Pinot Noir, and a great bottle for anyone looking for something a little different from Burgundy.
