About the Wine
Bullshit! Grauburgunder is a bold, characterful white that perfectly reflects the Bauer brothers’ playful yet quality-driven approach to winemaking. Made from 100% Grauburgunder, this is a rich, textured style that balances ripe fruit with freshness, offering both depth and drinkability.
Winemaking
After careful selection and gentle crushing, the grapes are fermented primarily in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with a portion fermented in German oak barrels for added complexity. The wine is aged on lees for several months before bottling, enhancing texture and flavour while maintaining balance.
Tasting Notes
Rich and full-bodied with aromas of ripe stone fruits, melon and honey, alongside hints of nuts and honeysuckle. The palate unfolds in layers, beginning with ripe pineapple and almond notes, followed by dried fruits and a subtle fruitcake character.
The Winemaker
Alexander Bauer, alongside his brother Martin, represents the fifth generation of this family estate. Since taking over in 2011, they’ve taken a bold and unconventional approach, combining fun wines with serious winemaking. Working in the rolling vineyards around Landau-Nussdorf, they craft wines that challenge tradition while staying true to their Pfalz roots.
Food Pairing
A great match for spinach gratin, leek soup, sautéed potatoes with salmon, or dishes with almonds.
