About the Wine:
Calcarius Nu Litr Orange Puglia is orange wine done right. This organic Falanghina is one of our natural wine best sellers, combining bright citrus energy with that signature skin-contact grip. If you’re searching for a vibrant, low-intervention orange wine from Italy, this is it.
Winemaking:
Hand-harvested Falanghina grapes are fermented with native yeasts and left on skins for 5 days to build colour and structure. Fermentation takes place in open vats with manual punch-downs, before ageing in stainless steel to lock in freshness. Unfined, unfiltered, and bottled with minimal sulphur — classic natural wine approach.
Tasting Notes:
A fresh and lively orange wine packed with blood orange, citrus peel, and herbal spice. There’s a subtle tannic grip from the skin contact, balanced by a clean, saline finish. Bright, zesty, and lightly savoury — everything you want from a modern Italian orange wine.
The Producer:
At the heart of Calcarius is Valentina Passalacqua, working out of Gargano National Park in Southern Italy. The vineyards sit on Kimmeridgian limestone soils rich in calcium, giving these wines their distinct mineral edge. The focus is on organic farming, indigenous grapes, and expressive, terroir-driven natural wines.
Label Detail:
“Ca” refers to Calcium, the defining element of the vineyard soils, highlighting the mineral identity of the wine.
