Vinification: Pinot destemmed and macerate for 2 days. Zinfandel fermented as whole bunches and carbonic. Chenin pressed directly. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts. Blended after 9 months, unfined and unfiltered.
Lots of bright red fruits, herbs, spice and a hint of smokiness.
Populis was born from the desire to make light-hearted, naturally-made, extremely drinkable wines from exciting Old-vine vineyards in Mendocino County. They partner with Larry Venturi who is a third generation grape grower and works his historic, dry farmed and old-vine vineyard organically. The vineyards are mainly Pinole gravelly loam soil with amazing drainage and optimal nutrients to allow the vines to thrive.
